Need for public awareness on Cerebral Palsy (at household, community and national level)

Psychological stress associated with cerebral palsy (CP) is known to be one of the most depressing conditions of families with people with Cerebral Palsy. Yet, majority of the parents, care givers and community members in Uganda do not have adequate knowledge about CP and how to handle people with Cerebral Palsy. Having adequate knowledge of CP would help them cope well with the demands of taking care of children and adults with CP as well as ensuring that their rights are not violated.  Securing resources to reach more districts will enable UNAC to mobilize and sensitize people with CP, parents, family members and community leaders about CP.
