During the identification of children with Cerebral palsy we came across the children below whose situation is alarming. To make the matter worse some of these children were found locked inside the houses from early in the morning up to late hours in the evening without any meal and the visiting team was informed by the neighbors that these children have been living in this situation for long. Their families gave up on them.
UNAC`s Appeal To The General Public
We call upon the Government of Uganda especially the Ministry of Health, to come on board and sensitize the communities in Uganda about the concept of Cerebral Palsy. This will create awareness, reduce stigma that families of children with CP are having and change of attitude towards children and persons with CP at large in their communities.
We request the community members to always inform the relevant authorities in the communities about the mistreatment and violation of the rights of children or persons with CP. Please let’s join hands to protect the rights of children/ Persons with disabilities in our areas.
We call upon any well-wishers, partners or individuals who would like to join UNAC in the struggle of creating a positive change in the lives of children with Cerebral palsy in rural areas, please contact us.
